Local GP conducts medical research 26 Aug 2026 Our Medical Practice is part of a nationally-recognised research delivery centre

Our local medical practice is part of the Thames Valley Hampshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (primary care), one of just 14 primary care sites to have been awarded national funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Centre.
The NIHR funding will enable the research hub (of which Eynsham Medical Practice is part) to bring commercial clinical trials directly into local GP surgeries and community settings.
Clinical trials are a vital part of getting new medicines approved and onto the NHS for use by patients across a whole range of conditions. By doing more of these trials in community settings, the process can move faster and help more patients. It also gives local patients access to new treatments they may not get otherwise.
One person who was interested to hear about the role our GP practice will play in supporting medical research was local MP Callum Miller. He visited the surgery in August to meet with the team and find out more about this innovative approach to research and how it will have a positive impact for patients.
If residents are interested in medical research and would like to get involved, please contact the surgery on [email protected].
