Eynsham's Sports Fields
Our local fields provide the perfect place for kite flying, frisbee, ball games or playing chase. Pack a picnic and spend the day in the open air! If you are meeting with other families and friends, why not
hire out the Sports Pavilion for a few hours? This would provide access to indoor space, a kitchen and toilet facilities.
Thornbury Green Open Spaces
With a mix of short grass areas and wildlife friendly areas, the green spaces in Thornbury Green are a good spot for taking the kids on a bug hunt or curling up on a rug with a board game.
Woodland Walk
Take a walk through local woodlands, whether the Millenium Wood/Eynsham Wood or through the Dovehouse Woodland (which links two sections along B4449). Challenge the youngsters to spot or hear birds and identify them!
Eynsham Unlocked tour
Be a tourist in your own village and take the Eynsham Unlocked walking tour by downloading the map and guide from Eynsham Online: Eynsham Unlocked - Eynsham Village. There also a colouring book for the younger ‘tourists’ and you’re all sure to learn something new about your home!
Go on a walking adventure
Eynsham is linked with many public rights of way that can take you into the countryside or neighbouring villages. Follow the yellow footpath waymarkers and blue Bridleways and see where they take you. Check out the routes by visiting Public Rights of Way - Countryside Access Map or pick up an ONS map overing the area. Remember, you can cycle along bridleways, but not footpaths.

Free bus travel for kids
Children aged 5-15 can travel for free on the bus this summer. From Eynsham, it’s easy to catch a bus into Oxford centre, where many of the museums are free to enter and Westgate and the Oxford Library often running activities for children. Alternatively, catch a bus to Witney where The Leys Recreation Ground has an adventure playground, skatepark and a splash pad area.
