The Parish Council has been alerted by some residents that a local footpath, accessed from the A40 (near the Tesco), may have been blocked off. We’d like to reassure residents that this legal bridleway has just been diverted.
We were recently informed by Oxfordshire County Council of a proposed diversion route for this footpath, with access available further along the A40 instead. This diversion has been made “to provide a level and safe route for path users” and does not take walkers far out of their way.
The map that was shared with us, indicating the diverted route, is available for download at the bottom of this page. Residents can also access the Public Order of Notice, issued by the County Council, below.
For residents who are keen to walk around the local area, the County Council website has a countryside mapping service which could be of use to seek out new footpaths and bridleways. This is available on their website: Public Rights of Way - Countryside Access Map (oxfordshire.gov.uk)
