Eynsham Parish Council News

Do you use the buses? 19 Oct 2023 Updates and a call for comments ahead of November meeting

Do you use the local bus services? How do you find the experience? Eynsham Parish Council would like to hear your thoughts or any questions you may have about these services ahead of a meeting in November.

On 14 November, Oxfordshire County Council will run the next quarterly Parish Transport Representatives meeting, which one of our councillors will be attending. These meetings include presentations but also reserve time for questions about or open discussion on any local transport issues that are having an impact on parish residents.

We know that bus services are the local transport option that most of our residents would have experience of, so we encourage you to contact us with any comments you’d like to be raised at the meeting. These comments can be emailed to epc.comms@eynsham-pc.gov.uk – just include ‘Bus Feedback’ in the subject header. Following the meeting in November, we will share feedback from the event and highlight any changes or updates.

On the topic of updates, the great news for those who travel regularly to London is that the Oxford Tube bus service – a coach which connects Oxford to the London Underground – will soon be stopping in West Oxfordshire, including close to Eynsham. From 23 October, some weekday services will start in Carterton, collecting passengers in Witney as well as outside the Evenlode Hotel (on the A40) on the edge of Eynsham. Read more about this and other amendments (but no price rises) on the service on the Oxford Tube website

At the end of October, it was confirmed by Stagecoach that they will be supporting the Government's extension of the fare cap, charging a maximum of £2 for a single journey (Oxford Tube services excluded) until January 2024.

And for even more money saving, we’d like to remind residents that they may be entitled to free travel on local bus services without realising it. Those aged who have reached the state pension age and people with certain disabilities are entitled to concession fares or free travel on many of our local buses, provided they have a concession pass from Oxfordshire County Council. Read the eligibility criteria and apply for your pass online via the County Council webpage for Bus Passes.
