District Council's Local Plan 3 Jul 2025 Share your views on key issues in the latest public consultation

West Oxfordshire District Council is currently developing a new version of their Local Plan, which is their key strategic document for managing development.

In preparation for the creation of a draft, the District Council has been holding a number of public consultations to hear more about the issues and challenges faced by communities in the district.

A new public consultation is now open and residents are being invited to share views from 26 June until 8 August on preferred policy options. This is to ensure the planning policies and proposals that form the shape of the Plan are tackling the local issues that matter most to the community, such as climate change, health and wellbeing, housing and the economy.

More information about the Plan, the process, and the consultation - including how to respond - is available on the website: Public consultation opens on the future direction of West Oxfordshire’s Local Plan | West Oxfordshire District Council News

There will be a series of public drop-in sessions during July for those interested in speaking to members of the District Council team directly and sharing views in person. Our local session will take place in Eynsham Village Hall on Wednesday 16 July from 4pm-8pm – drop-in at any time during these hours – with another at Witney Corn Exchange on Tuesday 22 July from 2pm-8pm.

Once this consultation closes, there is likely to be another public consultation on a different aspect of the Local Plan, before a draft is produced and shared for review later in the year. We will keep our residents updated when we have more information.

We don’t yet know what impact the planned local governance re-structure will have on Local Plans such as these, but it’s always worthwhile to highlight priority issues with those who have responsibility for key funding decisions. Eynsham Parish Council will be discussing the matter and submitting a response.
