West Oxfordshire District Council would like residents’ views on plans to introduce a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), making it easier to enforce rules around dog fouling.
The proposed PSPO would make it an offence for a person in control of a dog to fail to remove dog faeces from land to which this Order applies, in this case the whole District.
The Order comes in response to the high number of reports the District Council has been receiving about dog fouling over the past few years. It’s been recognised that the existing legislation is outdated, with the new Order helping to improve their enforcement ability and create a more meaningful deterrent, reducing the incidences of dog fouling.
The Parish Council is aware that the issue of dog fouling has an impact on Eynsham. We’d encourage residents to review the information about this proposal and complete a survey to share views with the District Council. The deadline for survey responses is 4 September.
