Speed reduction on A40? 29 Apr 2026 Share views on traffic measures as part of consultation on A40 project

Residents may be aware of the ongoing ‘Access to Witney’ improvement project that involves lots of activity at the A40/B4022 Shores Green junction.

This work is part of the Oxfordshire County Council Witney Transport Strategy and is intended to improve access between Witney and the A40.

As part of this process, there is a public consultation currently open on plans to introduce various traffic measures that could improve access. These would include introducing a new 60mph speed limit on the Witney Bypass and a new 40mph speed limit on adjoining roads.
