Eynsham residents may be able to benefit from a new community initiative – Power Up Oxfordshire – to install renewable energy measures and improve insulation at home.
This initiative is running in our area specifically and successful applicants will get support with all aspects of the process. This would include expert advice on what measures/changes might be effective, being connected with a reliable contractor and using a ‘group buy’ scheme to reduce the costs.
This initiative is being funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress scheme and was set up by the co-operative RetroFit Works. It is supported by social enterprise Low Carbon Hub and the installation partner is Sustain.
We know there have been various scams around solar panel installation, so we’d like to reassure residents that this initiative is genuine, with links to Low Carbon Hub and co-ordinated with Cosy Homes Oxfordshire.
Registration will open on 7 November, with applications accepted until the closing date of 23 December. Express an interest in the project now by signing up on this website: Form
There will two online webinars during November to provide more information. These will be on:
Wednesday 18 November – Technical and practical information on how heat pumps work in the home
Thursday 26 November – Technical and practical information on solar panels and insulating your home
In January, there will be an in-person session to meet the installer and ask any questions. The date and location of this session will be confirmed as the project progresses.
It is estimated that successful applicants will be able to schedule their installations to take place between January and March 2027, subject to design approval by the DNO (Distribution Network Operator).
