District Council rejects 83-home plan 18 Feb 2026 Development on Derrymerrye Farm has been rejected

Eynsham Parish Council has been informed that West Oxfordshire District Council has decided to reject the planning application for a development close to Eynsham.
The 83-home development was proposed for land west of Derrymerrye Farm, Old Witney Road. The Parish Council reviewed the application at a planning committee meeting and submitted a response, objecting to the development.
Documents and responses relating to this planning application are available on the District Council planning portal website: Simple Search Click on ‘search’, select ‘planning’, and then enter this reference code 25/02642/OUT to access the planning application.
On this website residents will be able to find the District Council’s response and their reasons for rejecting the application. This includes concerns about the negative impact the development would have on those using the A40, including buses, and the potential risk the development poses to the environment around it, namely the Oxford Meadows Special Area of Conservation.
There was an objection that the development fails to integrate with the existing character of Eynsham dwellings, being ‘overly urban and visually intrusive’. There were also concerns raised that this development would undermine the masterplanning of the West Eynsham Strategic Development Area.
The developer may decide to amend their planning application based on these concerns and re-submit, or they may appeal the decision. They may also do nothing. We will keep residents informed when we know more.
Residents who are interested in local planning applications are welcome to join our planning committee meetings held each month at the Village Hall. More information is available here: Planning Committee - Eynsham Parish Council, Oxfordshire
