Oxfordshire County Council is calling on residents to help name their new fleet of gritters.
Last winter, the County Council purchased 30 new gritters and is seeking creative, locally-inspired names for the vehicles to help raise a smile.
Anyone is welcome to submit a name - or multiple names - and the drivers will pick their favourites. The chosen names will be printed on the side of the gritters, 'spreading a few smiles along with the salt'.
Residents who would like to get involved can visit the designated webpage to review the gritters and submit the suggested names via an online form. Those who need accessible formats should contact the team via consultations@oxfordshire.gov.uk or by calling 01865 792422.
Submissions will be accepted until midday on 5 November, with winning names revealed on 10 November.
Some of the 30 gritters are being named by primary school children in the vicinity of the depot, while there is also a contest being run on Radio Oxford.
Once the gritters start heading out to do their work, they can be tracked via an online gritter tracker.
