Dovehouse Close play area OPEN 21 Nov 2025 We've re-opened the play area, although more work is needed

Eynsham Parish Council is pleased to inform residents that we will be re-opening Dovehouse Close play area today (Friday 21 November). We would like to sincerely apologise for the length of the closure and thank residents – particularly those with children – for their patience.

Visitors to the play area will notice that some equipment has been repaired while other pieces remain out of use. The equipment that is not safe to use has been fully fenced off and clearly signed. Please keep children away for their own safety.

We plan to complete further repairs before Christmas, although some pieces of equipment can’t be repaired until the new year. The delay is caused by having to wait for parts to be delivered and specialist contractors to be available for installation.

Chair Ross Macken acknowledges that “it’s always disappointing when we have to make a decision to close a play area, but the safety of children always comes first. Our officers and a number of Councillors have worked hard to get the repairs done as quickly as we could, getting the play area open again as soon as possible.”

“I’d like to thank my team for their hard work, for prioritising the play area, conscious of how much it means to the community,” Ross added. “I hope our families will enjoy getting back in to play again!”

The Parish Council appreciates the patience of the community with this ongoing matter. We hope to have the play area equipment fully repaired as soon as possible and will update residents via this website.
