Residents who walk around the edge of Horizon Technology Park may have noticed the fencing that has been erected to the north of the Polar Technology building.
Eynsham Parish Council has been informed by the team that the fencing has been installed to allow ecologists to carry out a ‘capture and relocation’ of reptiles from the site.
The reptiles are being relocated to the habitat north of the fence, which will be enhanced for them – and a whole host of other wildlife – by erecting hibernacula/log piles, bunds for reptile basking and thinning the scrub ahead of planting wildflower grassland over the next few months.
This is part of the ecological mitigation that was required for the expansion project to secure planning permission. It will ensure reptiles are unharmed by the building work and their populations can remain and thrive in a new habitat.
