If you want a pothole fixed, you’ve now got to report it. Cllr Dennis Stukenbroeker explains.

The Parish Council recently did a walking tour of Eynsham with the County Council’s Highways department identifying highway problems, including potholes, and a number of sites have been identified for repair (below).

However, Highways say they will be doing an inspection only once a year in future and will be relying on members of the public to report problems. This can be done by clicking on ‘Report a road problem’ at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk or direct at Fix my Street, where you can opt for updates via email or subscribe to an online feed. Problems needing urgent attention should still be reported to the Customer Service Centre: 0845 310 1111.

Here’s the list agreed for action at the meeting:

  • Roundabouts on B4449 - clearance and weed-killing, electrical checks for potential sponsorship
  • Back Lane - School Keep Clear and zig zag markings; missing kerbstones outside Village Hall
  • Witney Road school layby - school buses parking on the footway
  • High Street - loose blocks on footway between Mill Street and The Tuer
  • Queens Lane - large pothole (metalled footpaths are also maintained by highways)
  • Newland Street - lack of joined up footway between Hawthorn Road and Queen Street
  • Mill Street - road markings in the central shopping area.
