Eynsham Parish Council News

Enabling safer sharing of local roads 30 Aug 2022 Residents should prepare for speed limit changes in Eynsham soon

The 20mph scheme that was proposed by Eynsham Parish Council and approved by Oxfordshire County Council earlier this year, is set to come into force in September.

The Parish Council has recently been advised that the welcome gateways, repeater signs and highway lining work – alerting drivers entering Eynsham to the changed speed limits – will be installed from 5 September, coinciding with the start of a new school year. The work is expected to take two weeks.

Roads within the village will have speed limits reduced from 30mph to 20mph. There will also be reductions on village perimeter roads. To read more about which roads will be affected and the rationale for this change, please read this article from February 2022. We will provide further updates on this work if anything changes. Updates will be shared on this website and via our various other communications channels.

A local Community Speed Watch group has been established with trained volunteers to help enforce speed limits. Anyone interested in finding out more or joining the group can contact tricia.crowley@eynsham-pc.gov.uk.
