Make your home energy-efficient 3 Nov 2022 Sustainable Warmth scheme from the District Council could help low-income households

West Oxfordshire District Council has been allocated over £1 million pounds from the Government to support a new Sustainable Warmth scheme. This will be available to help local households on low incomes to make energy-efficiency upgrades to their homes.

Households with low incomes in the area can apply to the Sustainable Warmth scheme for a grant to cover the cost of work to make their houses warmer and better insulated this winter. This could include improvements to insulation and ventilation, installing energy-efficient lighting, upgrading a low-carbon heating system or installing solar panels. Approved installers are used to carry out the work and householders or landlords would not need to contribute, nor pay any of the grant back.

The funding is available to homes both on and off the mains gas grid, as well as owner-occupied and privately-rented dwellings. All the eligibility criteria are available on the District Council website, alongside the details for applying. These grants will be given on a first-come, first-served basis so apply soon if you think you may be able to benefit.

We hope some of our local residents will be able to take advantage of this scheme and secure the funds to cover improvements to their homes. This will not only reduce their heating costs, but also make their properties more energy-efficient and better for the environment.
