Transport Update: April 2025 24 Apr 2025 Updates on local transport services

Eynsham Parish Council would like to share some transport updates and information that will benefit those of our residents who prefer to – or must – travel without a car.

Pulhams additional stops

The H2 service, which was taken over by Pulhams in February and runs between Carterton and the John Radcliffe Hospital via Witney, Eynsham, Oxford North and Summertown, will soon have some additional stops to make this route more useful for those who need to travel between the local hospitals.

Following suggestions raised by residents and a discussion with Oxfordshire County Council, Pulhams has agreed that the H2 bus will add additional stops at the hospital in Witney as well as connecting to Thornhill Park and Ride, in addition to the existing stops on the service.

The new stops will be added when the next timetable change is published in May. Timetables are available on the website: Pulhams H2 - Carterton to JR Hospital & Brookes University | Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel

The Oxfordshire Comet

Residents may be unaware of a very handy service called the Oxfordshire Comet. This bookable transport is designed to help those without access to suitable public transport for their journeys or with mobility issues, such as wheelchair users.

The vehicles are 16-seaters and fully accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs. They can be booked for exclusive use (e.g. a group outing) or as an individual who is happy to share the trip, and can be flexible about day of travel, for a reduced price.

It is available for any journey, whether one-off or regular booking, and can be booked by organisations, schools or community groups. The service is only available between 10am and 2pm, Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) and is making use of the vehicles that transport children to school or adults to day care.

By using vehicles already owned, this service is low cost for users with the County Council only seeking to cover their running costs. Anyone wishing to use the service must join as a member (£3 fee), then purchase credit which can be used to book the vehicle.

All the details and indication of costs are available on the Oxfordshire Comet website (The Oxfordshire Comet | Oxfordshire County Council). Any questions should be directed to comet@oxfordshire.gov.uk or call 01865 323201 between 9am and 12pm, Monday to Friday. Download a leaflet on the Comet here: Comet_A5Leaflet_web.pdf

Parish Transport Meeting

A representative from the Parish Council regularly attends the countywide Parish Transport meetings that are held throughout the year. The next meeting will be in July and any comments, concerns, or questions residents would like to raise can be emailed to epc.comms@eynsham-pc.gov.uk with a subject header ‘Parish Transport Meeting’. We will share any feedback and updates following the meeting.
