Eynsham Parish Council was pleased to hear that two of our local ‘green’ projects have received a funding boost from West Oxfordshire District Council.
The money has been pledged via Westhive, the District Council’s fundraising platform that empowers communities to fundraise for initiatives that improve their local area. While projects use the platform to crowdfund, there is also a chance of being selected to receive an additional financial boost from the District Council.
In the latest announcement about funding, nine projects on Westhive have been chosen to share over £200,000 from the District Council – and two of these are based in Eynsham. Both projects will greatly enhance Eynsham’s surrounding environment. The Parish Council is proud of our community organisations and their endeavours.
The Eynsham Allotments Association had been fundraising to cover the cost of various improvements to their site, including creating a compostable toilet and planting an orchard. The funding boost they have now received from the District Council has allowed them to exceed their fundraising target.
Another recipient of a funding boost is the partnership of our local Nature Recovery Network (NRN)and Long Mead Foundation. The District Council’s money will help them buy new machinery to create and manage small areas for wildflowers, including Eynsham’s community meadows. They will also be able to purchase a greenhouse to grow rare meadow species and keep NRN’s plant propagators a bit warmer in winter.
While they now have their funds, both projects still require volunteers to help them complete the planned work. We’d encourage residents with some spare time and enthusiasm to get involved – no experience required!
