Cruiser Award for local skateboarders 10 May 2024 Local coach runs courses for new national accreditation

Eynsham Skatepark is going to be the first location in Oxfordshire where beginner skateboarders will be able to train for and acquire the new nationally-recognised Cruiser Awards.

This new Awards programme has just been rolled out nationally by Skateboard GB as part of efforts to promote skateboarding and build talent as the discipline becomes an Olympic sport. The Cruiser Awards is the first national award programme for beginners and our local coach Mario Santos will be running courses at Eynsham Skatepark from May.

Mario, and his business Broken Boards, has been running classes and coaching session in the skatepark since August 2023. On 27 May 2024, Mario will run the first Cruiser Awards course to provide Eynsham skateboarders with the chance to obtain this accreditation.

The programme covers the six ‘nuts and bolts’ of skateboarding, including balance, safety and stance, and will run from 10am until 12pm. The course is suitable for all over 5 (there is no upper age limit!) and costs £30 per person, with all necessary gear provided (including a skateboard if required).

Numbers are limited for the course, so places must be booked in advance via the Broken Boards website: Broken Boards Ltd - Cruiser Awards (brokenboardscoach.com) If you’d like to attend a course but are unable to join on 27 May, contact Mario to register your interest, as there is scope to run more course days during the half term holiday and through the summer.
