Updates on Oxford station works 3 Mar 2023 Botley Road to close on 11 April but residents can sign up for email updates on progress

Residents may be aware that a major re-development project is planned for Oxford Station, requiring the closure of Botley Road.

The work was due to commence on 9 January but Network Rail was unable to meet this start date and has temporarily delayed the work. In March it was announced that the closure would come into place on 11 April until the end of October. There will then be a second period of closure from March 2024 until October 2024.

To remain informed of activity at the station and the likely date of the closure, residents can sign up to a brand new digital email system via a Network Rail website. This is a pilot of the new digital system to update subscribers via email rather in a letter. If successful, there are plans to introduce these email updates across the country during all of National Rail’s planned and maintenance work.

The Oxford Station re-development project, which is likely to take a year, includes replacing the rail bridge over Botley Road to facilitate a new platform, a western entrance and road improvements at the station. Unfortunately, it will require part of Botley Road to be closed for the whole period, which could inconvenience people travelling in and out of the city centre.
