Monitor local flood warnings 16 Jan 2023 We encourage our residents to check local flood warnings during these wet weeks

Eynsham Parish Council has been contacted by the Oxfordshire County Council Emergency Planning team to alert our community of local flood warnings.

There are currently a number of flood alerts and one flood warning in place for parts of the River Thames between Newbridge and Kings Lock above Oxford. We would advise anyone who is planning to use or visit the river over the coming weeks to check warnings carefully before undertaking any activity.

One flood warning that is currently in place and could impact local people is for the section of the Thames between Newbridge Lock and Eynsham Lock. As no further rain is forecast for the next few days, it is expected that the water levels will recede quite quickly [as of 17 Jan 23].

To monitor the areas that would have the greatest impact on Eynsham, we would direct residents to check the live flood map that covers the river Evenlode from Moreton in Marsh to Cassington, as well as the river Glyme at Woodstock and Wootton. It can be viewed on the Government’s Live Flood Map website and on this link: Live flood map - Check for flooding - GOV.UK (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk)

At the time of writing, areas near Eynsham village have both flood alerts and flood warnings in place. We urge resident to take care and remain safe when close to high levels of water.
