Shirley's Spinney 11 Mar 2017 A new spinney planted in memoriam

A selection of around fifty berry-bearing saplings has been planted at the Fishponds in the south-eastern corner, near the playing field entrance. This should help to "fill the gap" left by the recent felling of some diseased trees in the area and will provide habitat and food for lots of wildlife.

We were very grateful to accept a donation towards this planting, which was kindly given by Chris Baker and his family, in memory of his mother, Shirley, who loved the Fishponds. This new area of planting will now be known as “Shirley’s Spinney” in her honour.
