Extra Care Housing scheme 14 Aug 2025 Independent living with tailored support

Oxfordshire County Council is currently taking applications for a new Extra Care Housing scheme in Faringdon that is designed for those over 55 who want to live independently but have extra care needs.

Fern Meadows, which has 60 self-contained apartments, is different to a residential care home. It’s designed to provide independent living with access to tailored care and support from an on-site Care Team.

It’s located around 30 minutes from Eynsham and is designed to provide residents with a community, in addition to their care support. On-site facilities include a café and hair salon, a residents’ lounge and communal gardens. There is also a guest suite for visitors.

This is the latest in a number of Extra Care Housing schemes across the county [Extra care housing | Oxfordshire County Council] aimed at providing an option for those who would prefer to live as independently as possible, with the reassurance of tailored support.

The County Council is accepting applications for a place at Fern Meadows. Of the 60 apartments on-site, 45 are available to rent and 15 available under shared ownership.
