Eynsham Parish Council is pleased to confirm that a local skateboard coach, Mario Santos, has secured permission to use our local skatepark to run his lessons and coaching sessions.
The skatepark, which falls within the responsibility of the Parish Council, is a popular area for young people to practice their skate boarding and we’ve worked hard to maintain this shared space as a safe area for the community to use.
Holding lessons or professional coaching sessions at the skatepark, or any of our local community spaces, requires permission and approval to ensure it doesn’t impact others’ safety and enjoyment when using the space.
Mario currently runs skateboarding lessons around West Oxfordshire. He started off with offering one-to-one sessions but, as more children began enquiring about his services, he recently decided to offer group lessons, with Eynsham Skatepark as a potential venue.
After contacting the Parish Council and delivering the necessary right documentation including a risk assessment, we were able to approve his request. Mario was thrilled and told us he was “grateful the Council has approved skateboarding sessions at the skatepark. It's a great sport for all ages.”
He continues: “By providing coaching, not only can we help children and young people develop their skills, we will also foster a larger skateboarding community in the area. It’s also great to see a skatepark being used; it means less anti-social behaviour by keeping the young ones busy!”
Skateboard enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that he will soon be starting a six-week course (spaces limited to six) on Friday evening from 5.30pm until 6.30pm. The course starts on 12 September and costs £90 per child. Mario will also be offering one-to-one coaching sessions on the weekends.
