Residents may be aware that a section of Oxford’s Botley Road will be closed from April to allow for station re-development works.
Stagecoach has announced that this closure will have an impact on bus routes, including one that serves Eynsham.
When the road is closed from 11 April for up to 7 months, our local S1 service will see some changes to the route. When travelling towards Oxford, the existing bus route will be followed until Eynsham church, when the route will divert to travel into the city centre via the A40 and Woodstock Road. The bus will terminate in Frideswide Square, at the railway station, where it can also be caught for the journey back (via the same route).
There will also be a supplementary, temporary E1 service to ensure the route still links to the Botley Road. This E1 service will start in Eynsham and operate every 30 mins between 5am and 9pm. It will follow the existing S1 route and run along Botley Road, but terminate at Osney Island near Oxford Railway Station bridge.
More details on both of these services and other changes in the county are available on this designated page of the Stagecoach website. This service will remain in place until the road is open again and buses can resume their usual routes.
With single fares continuing to be capped at £2 until the end of June, getting the bus into Oxford remains one of the most affordable and environmentally-friendly choices so we hope this temporary alteration won’t stop our residents using the service.
If we have any further information about this change, we will update you via this website.
