Better Housing Better Health 24 Feb 2023 This free service could help you stay warm and well at home

Eynsham Parish Council would like to make residents aware of a free service that could help residents  stay comfortable at home and improve the energy efficiency of their dwelling.

Better Housing Better Health (BHBH) is a national initiative that is being offered locally by Oxfordshire County Council. The initiative is designed to support local people to stay warm and well at home, in recognition of the negative impact that poor-quality housing can have on health.

Residents in Oxfordshire can arrange for a free home energy visit (known as BHBH+) and receive advice and support on making their home more resilient to extreme weather through home improvements. The service will also help those who are struggling to pay or understand their fuel bills.

Last year, the home visit service BHBH+ helped over 2,500 local residents and it’s hoped many more will soon be supported. While the service is available to all, requests from those living in poor-quality, private sectors housing will be prioritised.

To arrange for a home visit service, please call the team on 0800 107 0044 or email BHBH via bhbh@nef.org.uk. More details on the service in Oxfordshire, including some useful FAQs, are available on the Better Housing Better Health website.

We hope this free service may be of benefit to some Parish residents and help them to stay well this winter.
