Flood Alert - risk is now reducing 22 Dec 2020 Update 03/01/2021: River levels are high, but steady and no further rainfall is forecast.

DATELINE 22/12/2020: A Flood Alert was issued by the Environment Agency at 08:35 today; details follow.

Flooding of properties is not currently expected. River levels have risen on the Rivers Evenlode and Glyme as a result of a period of sustained rainfall. Therefore, flooding of low lying land, footpaths and roads is expected today, especially in the areas around Evenlode and Shipton-under-Wychwood.

Some heavy showers will pass across the area this afternoon and early evening. We expect river levels to begin falling later today, but levels will rise again following further forecast rainfall. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are in the area clearing weed and trash screens. Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and avoid contact with flood water.
