ECC members assisted the Croquet Association by setting up, preparing the ground, supplying equipment and finally by providing willing volunteers to guide visitors through the rudiments of Golf Croquet.
Pat and Tony reduced the parkland grass down to an acceptable length with numerous cuts, but the dry weather left the ground baked hard.
Club members were kept busy from gates open at 10 to closing time at 5.30 guiding visitors through the game, it made for a long tiring day particularly in the high temperatures.
900 visitors picked up a mallet over the 4 days and 85 left their emails for clubs to contact. We will wait and see how many are local when the contacts are forwarded to the club.
