For the traditional ninth lesson (John 1-14 -https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1:1-14) a spotlight broke through the candlelight onto the reader. Then Rev Duncan Fraser asked the 200 strong congregation what helped them get excited about Christmas? He noted the new star above the Church Doorway ( will there be reindeer on the church roof next year?) and brought along their own new decoration at home - a singing Moose head. The nine lessons gave the sweep of the whole story behind Christmas: how the baby born in poverty brought liberty to all humanity who had been exiled from God and how all who receive him as Messiah are given the right to become children of God. This was the reason for the angel’s joy, the shepherd’s excitement and Mary’s treasuring of the whole experience in her heart.
