Ken Sheffield 5 Jul 2017 We were sorry to hear of Ken’s death on 5 July, at the age of 86. The funeral service will be held on Thursday 3 August at noon

Ken was a founder member of Eynsham Morris when it revived in 1979 and danced and played with them for several years. He had wide interests, both in engineering and in music, and published ten volumes of country dances and tunes (The Sheffield Collection) from 1982-2005. As he explained in volume 10, the original idea was to publish ten dances each year for ten years, as a sort of elegy for the imperial system, though the time scale slipped as other activities and problems ‘got in the way’.

Ken’s much-loved collection of vintage cars, motor bikes and optical instruments, plus an impressive ‘turret clock’ he had lovingly restored and regulated to an accuracy of one second a day, were a highlight of Open Gardens weekend in 2007.

The story of the Hall Barn clock is available to download below, as told by Ken Sheffield himself.
