Residents may be interested in reviewing and commenting on Government plans to modernise how we pay council tax.
A public consultation on the plans is open until midnight on 12 September, with all welcome to respond.
The planned changes seek to modernise the administration of council tax and would include:
-
Making changes to council tax bills
-
Modernising support in the system
-
Removing barriers to efficiency
-
Improving the collection and enforcement of council tax
The Government "recognises that the adminstration of council tax more broadly has not been reviewed in decades" and that “there are broader opportunities to deliver a fairer and more efficient system for taxpayers and councils.”
The full details on this consultation and information on how to respond are available on this website: Modernising and improving the administration of council tax - GOV.UK
