Could you support the bereaved? 10 Apr 2025 Hospice seeks local bereavement volunteers

Sobell House Hospice, part of the NHS, is recruiting new bereavement volunteers to help them to expand their services in our area.

Bereavement volunteers provide support to people who have lost someone close to them, whether a family member or friend. The role would suit those who are empathetic, warm and good at listening. It is not advisable for anyone who has suffered a bereavement in the last two years to apply.

Volunteers must be able to commit to 16 hours per month and have their own transport. Full training will be provided – this is taking place between September and December 2025. There will be a foundation level training course (approx. 60 hours) and an online training course (approx. 8 hours).

Once initial training is completed, volunteers will be provided with on-going support and further training as required. All expenses, whether travel costs or phone calls, will be fully reimbursed.

The closing date for applications is 30 June 2025. Those interested in applying should visit Bereavement Support Worker - Sobell House, email the team via pallcarevolunteerservices@ouh.nhs.uk or call on 01865 225 944/868.

The details and a QR code for the website is available in the poster below.
