Eynsham Parish Council will be switching on the Christmas lights in Eynsham at dusk on 1 December. Residents are invited to join us, and see the square lit up for the festive season.
Residents will have heard that the annual Light Up Eynsham event is not going ahead this year. As the Parish Council is responsible for the Christmas lights, we decided to arrange an informal ‘switching on’ ceremony to allow us to officially light up the village for the countdown to Christmas.
At 5.15pm on Sunday 1 December we will hold a short ceremony and switch on the lights in Eynsham’s Market Square. Santa has kindly agreed to join us, courtesy of Eynsham Rotary, and our District Cllr Andy Goodwin will be alongside Parish Cllr Andy Mosson to say a few words and push the button.
The switching-on ceremony will be taking place immediately after the Christingle service in St Leonard’s Church, which starts at 4pm. St Leonard’s Church will remain open until 8pm for the Christmas Tree Festival. The theme this year is ‘O Holy Night’ and donations are being collected for Eynsham Larder.
Residents are welcome to join us for this low-key switching-on ceremony. Please be advised that roads into Eynsham will not be closed for this event. Attendees should take care and avoid blocking roads for vehicles.
