Crowdfunding for Salt Cross action 30 May 2023 Donations are sought to fund the legal challenge

Further to our news that the group Rights: Community: Action (RCA) has launched a legal challenge over the Salt Cross Garden Village development, we would like to share the link to their ongoing crowdfunding campaign as they seek resources to cover the costs of the action: Crowd Justice website.

Following the Inspectorate’s report on the Area Action Plan (AAP) for the new development, RCA launched a legal challenge over the Inspector’s decisions. The modifications made were deemed to be a ‘watering down’ of the ambitious targets around net zero.

It was feared that allowing such modifications to be incorporated into the AAP for Salt Cross Garden Village would set a worrying precedent for other new developments countrywide and undermine the Government’s ambitions around net zero in the coming decades. You can read more about the legal challenge in our article from April.

RCA has now set up a crowdfunding page on Crowd Justice to raise the money to cover the costs of the High Court legal case. The target figure is £15,000 and the fund is open for donations until 11 June.

Eynsham Parish Council opposed the Inspector’s decision and proposed modifications to the AAP, making our feelings known via the formal consultation and in other media content. We would encourage any residents who feel similarly about the importance of upholding ambitions net zero targets and are keen to show their support – and are in a financial position to be able to do so – to consider making a donation. The total pledged is currently at just under £7,000, with a further £8,000 needed if the legal challenge can proceed.
