Eynsham Parish Council News

Defibrillator for Sports Pavilion 14 Feb 2022 A defibrillator will be installed in the Sports Pavilion and available for all to use in an emergency.

The Parish Council has arranged for a defibrillator to be installed in the Eynsham Sports Pavilion, available for use by anyone in the vicinity who may need it.

We were fortunate to be offered this unused unit by Taylor Wimpey, the construction company working in Thornbury Green. The defibrillator had been installed on the construction site in case of emergency and, with the closure of the site, the unit was offered to us for Eynsham’s use.

The Sports Pavilion has been selected as the most suitable place for installation considering the various sports played in the vicinity, while the land is often used by walkers. In this location, the unit will also be quickly accessible for the residents of Oxford Road and Hazeldene.

Defibrillators are devices that deliver a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone in cardiac arrest. They are very easy to use and require no training to operate – the unit talks the user through the process. They can be critical in keeping a patient alive until the paramedics arrive, but should only be used in a genuine emergency.

The date of installation for the new defibrillator has yet to be confirmed. We will update residents as soon as we have more information.
