Eynsham Lockdown online & print 28 Nov 2020 We are closing the website at the end of 2020 - and then planning to publish it as a book in early 2021

We are delighted that Eynsham Lockdown, at the point of writing, includes more than 80 blog posts/diary entries and 22 photos from individuals, organizations and shops in the village. Together, they create a wonderful miscellany of reflections, poems and a chronicle of events in Eynsham during this very challenging period. It is something of which the village can feel proud. You can read it at www.eynshamlockdown.org.

We have made a decision to bring the project to a close at the end of December. Although the effects of the pandemic are ongoing and will continue for some time to come, we feel that the blog/diary will be complete as a snapshot of life in the village during this year, 2020.

There is still time for you to be a part of it, though! We are receiving entries/blog posts until 31 December. Just send your contribution to sarahmedina@eynshamlockdown.org or to lucybadger@eynshamlockdown.org. We would really love to hear from you, whether you have contributed before or you are a first-time contributor. Posts can be very short, if you wish, or longer.

The next stage is to publish Eynsham Lockdown as a book in early 2021. This was always part of our original intention, if possible. We see this as a resource not only for people today, but for posterity: a diary of our village during an unprecedented period of history in our lifetimes. Holding a copy of people's words in our hands is, we feel, very different to simply leaving them online - more real, somehow, and more solid. At present, the book looks as if it will be about 160 pages long. It will be an incredible testament to the spirit not only of individual villagers, but the whole village community.

We are currently seeking funding to enable us to go to print, so it isn't a done deal yet. But we are very hopeful. We will keep you posted on progress!

In the meantime, take good care of yourselves, and stay safe.
