Coronavirus 22 Mar 2020 Due to COVID restrictions the 2020 AGM of the Allotment Association was held in October and was conducted by post and email.

November news from the allotments. 

There is has been plenty to do on the allotments at the end of the year.  Quite a bit of rain over the last month has meant that end of year tidying up has had to be squeezed into the few days which were dry enough for the soil to be worked.  One or two significant night frosts at the end of October saw off the more delicate plants but overall it has been mild enough to allow a good autumn harvest.  Some excellent pumpkins were grown for Halloween and autumn sown crops like broad beans and garlic have been very active.

It has been a busy time for the committee which has had to do its business under the restrictions of COVID19.  The AGM was conducted by email and letter a new committee elected in October.  Andy Swarbrick and Christine Jackson retired from their respective offices as Chair and Treasurer having served the association for six years.  Much has been achieved under their watch and they have been warmly thanked for all their work.  They are succeeded by Martin Groves (Chair) and Michael Green (Treasurer) who can be reached on [email protected] or via the parish website.

The allotments have been a welcome refuge for many during COVID 19 with the result that the waiting list for plots is considerably longer than usual.  Still this is the time of year when some plots do become available so if you are on the waiting list do not give up hope!
