First and Last Mile CIC has confirmed that two previously terminated bus services from Eynsham will be served by a new community bus from January 2022.

The community minibus will run two routes – the 411 to Long Hanborough via Freeland and the 418 to Standlake via Stanton Harcourt – on the original timetable, at a frequency of every two hours from Monday to Friday. An additional bus will operate on the Bartholemew school service from Standlake to Eynsham to cope with the increased demand.

These buses will start running on 4 January, re-instating two useful services and reconnecting Eynsham to neighbouring areas. There will also be a connection at Eynsham Church to the S1. For route details and times for the 411 and 418, please visit the First and Last Mile CIC website.

First and Last Mile is a community enterprise that aims to improve public transport in the county, working alongside other groups and businesses to provide local people with greater connections and easier travel options. It is hoped that re-instating these services will help tackle the isolation that often results from a lack of public transport options in smaller towns and villages.

The group is currently seeking volunteer minibus drivers to sustain the 411 and 418 services. Training will be provided, but applicants will need to have a D1 licence. More information is available from First and Last Mile CIC on info.firstandlastmile@gmail.com.
