Michael, along with his wife Jenny, became actively involved in many aspects of Eynsham life soon after moving here in 1995, following his retirement from being Wheatley’s vicar. I first came across him and Jenny and their children Clare and Mark as long ago as 1982.
Eynsham History Group was very fortunate to have Michael on our committee for many years, serving as Programme Secretary and then Outings Secretary. He was always knowledgeable, reliable, organised, kind and calm. He once took a few of us round Westminster Abbey which was fascinating.
Many years later in 2014, he also gave a talk to our group about the rose connected with the unknown soldier in the Abbey. He even showed us the Maundy money that he received from the Queen in 2013.
