Pat recalls with fondness the wide space, fauna and flora in the field between Thornbury and Chilbridge Roads but seems remarkably unfazed by life on the edge.
It’s probably a matter of perspective. The District Valuation maps for 1910 show nothing but allotments and fields from Chilbridge to Old Witney Road; while the total absence of an ‘A’ road between Barnard Gate to Cassington still prompts a nostalgic sigh.
