Craft Club at the Peace Oak Orchard Willow Coppice
12 Aug 2021 19:00 - 21:00 at Peace Oak Orchard

Craft Club at the Peace Oak

Last chance to book - tomorrow we have our penultimate Craft Club of the summer, Thursday August 12th, 7-9pm at the Peace Oak orchard in Eynsham.

We're very happy to be running a clay workshop where you can make your own hand-formed bowl from Eynsham clay (from the Red Lion carpark!)  with ceramicist Alison Holmans aka The Chicken Run Studio, and then let your imagination go wild with decorating!

Once you've completed your bowl there may also be the opportunity to make decorative pendants in North Leigh clay, to contribute to the Nature Recovery Network and the Peace Oak community art piece for "From the Ground Up: Stories of Climate Action" an exhibition which will run at the Old Fire Station in Oxford from 27 August to 9 October 2021. Artist and tutor Alice Walker along with Alison Holmans and Sue Raikes have been coordinating this community artwork which features weaving, willow, poetry, printing and clay in a thoroughly gorgeous creation!

--------------------

Created by Willow Coppice and spooncarver David Knight, Craft Club is an infomal, relaxed opportunity to get together round a campfire and enjoy practicing some making skills. Most weeks we have some willow weaving activity, and carving - spoons, butter knives, coat hooks etc!

There's always lots of activities going on and guest tutors who have instructed us in specialist skills such as cyanotype printing and straw weaving. Helena and The Stitches for Survival group are working on their 1.5 mile long scarf to take to the climate talks at COP26 this November, and feel free to just come to join us round the campfire and choose your own activity, chop up some logs, bring your own whittling, knitting or watercolours etc and your suggestions for future craft club ideas you'd like to partake in or lead!

Craft Club is open to any Peace Oak members over 14 years old and their guests. This summer tutors are donating their time and expertise for free, a small cash contribution towards materials is welcomed. A £5 donation may be payable to the Peace Oak for hosting the events.
