Magic and Mayhem 15 Sep 2018 Eynsham Brownies enjoy magic and mayhem at huge camp!

Brownies from Eynsham joined over 2,000 girls creating Magic and Mayhem at Girlguiding’s biggest event for girls aged 5-10.

Girls from 1st and 3rd Eynsham Brownies rose to the challenge as they took on a series of adventurous activities at Magic and Mayhem at Foxlease, Girlguiding’s activity centre near Lyndhurst in Hampshire on 9-10 June.

Over the weekend the girls tried a range of exciting activities spread across five themed zones; science, circus, dance, activity and fun. The activities included climbing, archery, fencing, juggling, magic tricks and science experiments.

And after adventuring all day the Rainbows and Brownies camped all together under a giant big top tent. For many girls this was their first night away from home as part of their Girlguiding journey.

Zoe, 9, a Brownie from 1st Eynsham Brownies, said: “I really enjoyed doing the dancing because at the end it was fun to do the dance routine together.”

Laura, 8, also a Brownie from 1st Eynsham Brownies, said: “I liked the fun zone, especially the big slides which I could go down with my friends.”

Girlguiding gives girls opportunities to have fun and adventure, gain life skills and make friends. Magic and Mayhem is the second of three weekend events to be held at Girlguiding’s activity centres in Hampshire, Sussex and Lancashire during 2018, for girls and young women from across the country, and follows on from winter camp Sparkle and Ice and precedes summer festival Wellies and Wristbands.

This year, the Brownies and Guides from Eynsham have also taken part in a Sleepover at the Sealife Centre in Birmingham with Brownies from Standlake and Brize Norton, and in July won 1st place in the “Children’s groups of 10 or more” category at Eynsham Carnival with their theme of “Space”.
