News Update 4 Sep 2017 September catch-up on what Rotary are doing

It's been a relatively quiet time for Rotary as we've all been enjoying the summer hols, but now we're getting busy again.

End Polio Now campaign

Most excitingly we will be planting 10,000 purple crocus - on the verges at the toll-bridge roundabout and near the lay-by at Bartholomew School - in support of Rotary International’s ongoing campaign to rid the world of Polio. We’re so nearly there - Polio cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated 350 000 cases then, to 37 reported cases in 2016. As a result of the global effort to eradicate the disease, more than 16 million people have been saved from paralysis.  Watch out for the fruits of our labours in the early spring.

Our next event is to be “Starts & Tarts” - a version of a pudding club event (but to include starters!) This will be held in the village hall on October 20th. Tickets will be sold “first come, first served” as numbers will be limited. Look out for the posters nearer the time.

Finally, some good news on our hunt for a permanent meeting place - we have been welcomed back to The White Hart in Newland St. by new landlords, Gervase and Johnny -  where we will be meeting at 7.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month for the foreseeable future. If you're interested, do come along to see who we are and what we do!  See our contact page for details.
