Governors' Update 16 Sep 2016 Bartholomew School’s A-level and GCSE results this summer were the best to date

Bartholomew School’s A-level and GCSE results this summer were the best to date - but the school is determined not to rest on its laurels.

Schools have to record several performance indicators, but the one many parents will look out for is the percentage of A*-C grades. This year, it was 84.2% for A-levels, compared with a national average of 76%. At GCSE, the A*-C rate for five subjects including Maths and English was 76.3%, versus a national figure of 64%.

However, the school also recorded a significant score in how far GCSE students progressed between results being predicted and the actual grades. On average, their exam results were a third of a grade higher than forecast. This is evidence of Bartholomew School devoting time and resources to ensuring students of all abilities can realise their potential and develop their talents, within an inclusive and creative environment.

Operational headteacher Craig Thomas said: "It’s been a real team effort, with teaching and associate staff working so well together to help the students to flourish. The students worked extremely hard and deserve the tremendous results that they’ve achieved."
