Beyond Belief 3 Dec 2014 A new climbing frame installed last month at Old Witney Road play area has been vandalised within days.

A new climbing frame installed last month at Old Witney Road play area has been vandalised within days.

Cllr Richard Andrews, who chairs the Play Area Committee, comments: “Including installation costs and its safety surface this unit cost £15,000.

“We carefully chose something with lots of movement, to be more interesting than a basic climbing frame, and it is very depressing to realise that, even in Eynsham, all some people want to do with anything new and shiny is to destroy it.

“If anyone sees play equipment being obviously abused at any of the three play areas, please contact the Neighbourhood Police team by phoning 101.”

Rachel Faulkner, Clerk to the Parish Council, adds “We fight a constant battle against vandalism and dangerous littering including broken glass and dog mess but council staff, volunteers and helpful parents do their best to keep on top of things so that children are kept safe.

“Do contact me with any concerns you have about the play areas.”
