Fishponds work party 2nd December 16 Nov 2018 Please come and help if you can!

There will be a Fishponds working party on Sunday 2nd December, from 10:00. We are hoping to clear the dipping platform at the pond itself; improve access to the boardwalk by using the hoggin in the car park; put wood chippings down around the spinney to help suppress nettle growth; replace loose stones on the dry stone wall at the north side of the Fishponds; clear overgrown vegetation; litter pick – and any other maintenance we can think of! If you would like to muck in, please bring loppers, wheelbarrows, shovels, secateurs, etc. – and a hot flask! - and wear stout boots and gloves. Biscuits will be provided. It's not much of a bribe, but it might help. Also, I've bought a pair of waders so I can venture into the pond to remove litter. Watching me flailing about might be another incentive.

We have a maintenance plan in place for the Fishponds up to 2025, but we are looking beyond this towards the long-term future and would be interested to hear your views on what improvements you would like to see at the site, or what projects you would like us to consider. Please do let me know if you have any ideas.

If you would like your name added to my "volunteer list" for future working parties, please drop me an email.

All the best, hope to see you there, and thanks in advance! Sue Osborne
